Goodbye, tampon tax!

After 20 years, the tampon tax is dead!

Thanks to an online petition with more than 74,000 signatures, all Canadians will be able to buy feminine hygiene products without federal tax starting tomorrow.

But struggle isn’t fully over. Unless you live in B.C., Ontario, Nova Scotia or Manitoba, you’ll still have to pay provincial tax on tampons, pads, douches and everything else.

The average woman is expected to save $5.30 a year. That might not seem like much, but you can’t put a price on equality. Hygiene products are essential for women, girls, transgendered people and anyone else with a period.
