Pressure continues to mount against Washington D.C.’s NFL team name, despite the team owner’s insistence that the “R” word and the team’s mascot are like a badge of honour.

A powerful commercial by Change the Mascot and the National Congress of American Indians that shows why Washington’s team name, reducing Indigenous people to a skin colour, is so harmful, made the rounds on the internet again after this year's Super Bowl.

The ad was made a couple of years ago and never aired during the game, but it's powerful message is just as relevant today. Indigenous people are varied and diverse and so much more than than skin colour or stereotypes.

Change the Mascot is an American organization that advocates for the elimination of Washington’s offensive NFL team name and mascot.
