Fashion show in Regina highlights the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women

Fashion Speaks Saskatchewan, a fashion show that took place on October 24, featured the works of Indigenous designers and at the same time highlighted the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

According to its Facebook page, the show consisted of 12 designers from across the country. One designer was Becki Bitternose , who hails from the George Gordon First Nation and who is making a name for herself with her high-end jackets fashioned out of Pendleton blankets.

Models at the show included Katie Cleveland. Her mother, Melanie Dawn Geddes, went missing in 2005 and a few months later her remains were found.  

Proceeds from Fashion Speaks Saskatchewan went to South Saskatchewan Sisters in Spirit.
