Preventing gang recruitment with skateboarding

Justin Darrow is making a big difference in Kanesatake through his work with Skateboards for Hope . The work he’s done to get young people equipped with skateboards has gotten the attention of their communities’ chief who is now looking for funding to build a skate park.

For Darrow, skateboarding kept his attention away from some of the more negative influences around him. He hopes to help other young people learn the skills and values of determination and focus through skateboarding that will help them stay on a good path.
