October 4 vigils

Find where an event honouring missing and murdered women is taking place near you

Every year on October 4, people gather at vigils across the country to remember Indigenous women — sisters, mothers, cousins, aunties and daughters — who’ve gone missing or who’ve been murdered. The Sisters in Spirit vigils are a national movement that encourages concerned individuals, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to gather and reflect and honour.

The vigils have grown over the course of their existence, from 11 back in 2006 to more than 200 events in 2014.
