Mic Jordan's new song encourages and inspires

#DearNativeYouth became a prominent hashtag in the spring, with positive messages from and to Indigenous youth flooding Twitter.

This inspiration and positivity continues with Mic Jordan’s latest single, appropriately titled #DearNativeYouth. It’s a statement of love and encouragement.

It’s also one of many songs to appear on the The Last Stand Mixtape, which according to the folks over at Revolutions Per Minute is coming later in the fall: “Encapsulating both the spirit and sentiment of a new generation of Native artists fighting back against all forms of oppression with strength, unity, and conviction, Mic Jordan makes clear that this is bigger than a hashtag movement.”

Mic Jordan is an emcee from the Turtle Mountain Reservation. Through his music, he tries to inspire youth, tackling tough issues like suicide and alcoholism. Music was a way to get through some serious struggles in his life and he wants to help Indigenous youth the same way music helped him, by engaging them through speech, presentation and performance.

What do you think of the song?
