This year's Indigenous Music Awards show takes place on Sept. 11

The Indigenous Music Awards are held every year in Winnipeg. This year’s event, the award show's 10th anniversary, is on Friday, September 11 and the awards night is packed with impressive nominees.

The IMAs are a celebration of Indigenous music and musicians and winners are chosen by fans — who have an opportunity to vote (extended until July 31 this year) online for their favourite artists. Some of the nominees for the 2015 IMAs include Cody Coyote, Kelly Jackson, Tomson Highway, Scatter their Own and Niiko Soul.

The CBC compiled 5 nominees to watch and you can check out the full list of nominees here.
