Jerilynn Webster discusses why she’s voting and what issues are important to her

Jerilynn Webster, aka JB the First Lady, took some time to talk to Metro News a couple of weeks ago about the fast approaching federal election. She’s voting, and has a very specific list of things she wants dealt with in the political realm, things that are important for Canadians.

Her issues include an inquiry for missing and murdered Indigenous women, environmental policy and sustainable energy, welcoming refugees to Canada, tackling issues for youth in care and reconciliation with Indigenous people in this country.

The last concern — reconciliation — is an overarching issue, she said. “True reconciliation — there would be justice for all categories,” Webster said.

“My grandmother was not allowed to vote,” she added. “My grandfather was not allowed to vote. And now I can research, and I can ask questions. Push back. Push forward.”
