Would you date someone outside your race?

Amanda Deer, a Mohawk, and her non-native boyfriend were forced out of their home because of a Kahnawake Mohawk law that prohibits mixed race couples from living on its reserve.

Many people have been forced off of the reserve in the past, including Olympian Waneek Horn-Miller. She and six others are currently appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada over it.

The law has all led to huge discussions around the issue of interracial couples. The Kahnawake Mohawk Chief said the policy is in place to preserve Mohawk culture and identity, rather than encourage intermarriage that dilutes the culture.
