To honour the one year anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s release of its final report summary and calls to action on June 2, 2015, Kairos Canada is bringing its popular Blanket Exercise to capital cities across the country.
The Blanket Exercise is a decolonization teaching tool that explores the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.
The Blanket Exercise was developed in 1996 in response to the Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples, which recommended education on Canadian-Indigenous relations and its history as a step towards reconciliation.
The Blanket Exercise tour will hit Charlottetown on May 28, Toronto on May 30 and then Ottawa on May 31. Then it will travel to Regina on June 1, Victoria on June 2 and in Winnipeg and Whitehorse on June 4.
Kairos Canada is a Christian organization that brings together churches and other religious organizations to do social justice work. To learn more about the Blanket Exercise, visit kairosblanketexercise.org.
